Bunter, Rod

Rod Bunter, born in 1970 and currently residing in Brisbane, holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (1990) and a Masters of Visual Arts (2010) from the Queensland College of Art. His artistic achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Melville Haysom Scholarship, The Churchie Emerging Art Prize, and the Griffith University Award for Academic Excellence.

Throughout the 1990s, Mr. Bunter actively participated in the gallery scene, managing ISNT Gallery from 1992 to 1996 and contributing to exhibitions at Plotz Gallery, Smith & Stoneley, and Modus Studios. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane (1998, 2000, and 2003), and he was featured in Primavera 2002 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. Since 1998, Bunter has been associated with Gallery Schubert, Helen Gory Galleries, and Richard Martin Art, and his works are included in various private and public collections both in Australia and internationally.

According to Simon P Wright, Director of Griffith Artworks, Rod Bunter's creative process involves recontextualizing visual elements, akin to a writer's use of quotations or a musician's sampling of riffs, to create a new composition reflective of his personal artistic vision.
