Persian Pink Onyx scupture on a base of black granite.
Graham and his wife Margit lived in Italy for 6 years from 1987, and after that Graham went back every 2 years for working trips. It is because of this ongoing and enduring connection with the people in the marble industry in Pietrasanta and Carrara, Tuscany that Graham has access to most rare and high quality marble and onyx from all over the world. This extraordinary piece of Persian Pink Onyx, quite large and sound in strength was a lucky find. Graham began working at it over 2 decades ago when he lived in Italy and shipped it home unfinished to his workshop on Mount Glorious, Australia, where it lay untouched for many more years. Earlier in 2018 it started to talk to Graham, wanting to be finished. And here it is in its glory. A major piece that was worth the wait. Salome, who danced the Dance of the Seven Veils for King Salomon. Once you know Graham’s work, you can always find the woman, the long flowing hair. This sculpture demands a fair amount of space around it. Its energy and radiance is extensive.
